Install the Package

To install the Content Channels for Umbraco package follow these steps:
  • Download the package from the releases section of this site to your local machine (remeber the location you save the file).
  • Login to Umbraco (http://yourwebsitename/umbraco/umbraco.aspx) using "admin" for the username, and the password you setup during the umbraco web installation.
  • Once you are logged in, click the "Developer" section at the bottom left of the page.
  • Double click left side on the Packages folder to extend it.
  • Click the last sub item Install local packages, this opens the install packages dialogue at the dashboard on the right side.
  • In the Import Package dialogue, click the button search local file. This opens a file open dialogue, navigate to the package file, downloaded before and press button open.
  • Now press Load Package button In the Import Package dialogue. The package will be uploaded to your umbraco backend, and the Package Installation dialogue is shown at the dashboard.
  • Read and Confirm MIT Licence (click the checkbox Accept license) and latest Read me instructions. Now press button Install Package to start installation of the package into your Umbraco backend.

Modify Web Config File

Important! After successful installation of the content channels package for Umbraco V4 you have to modify your web.config file, located at your web server root directory. If you use a shared web server, you have to download this file via a FTP client software. Modify your file locally and upload it back to your web server root directory.
Tip: Please make a backup of your unmodified web.config file after download for the case something goes serious wrong.
  1. Open the web.config file with an editor of your choise. The file is in xml format, but Windows Notepad will make it too.
  2. Search for UMBRACO CHANNELS in section <httpHandlers> and do the modification of next paragraph Required Modifications.
  3. Save and upload your file back to your web server root directory. This step may require use of a FTP client software.

Required Modifications

The following modifications are required to tell your Umbraco CMS not to use the default built in Channels API but to use the tswe.channels.MetaWeblog API, located in the tswe.channels DLL. This DLL (library) is part of this package and installed while package installation.
